New Toys

Crema is sporting some new goodies.

Quick update on some fun things:

Looks like we are going with the Mahlkonig.  Should be back in shop tomorrow or the next day, and I can’t wait.  We’ve had to go back to the mini mazzer the last 3 days while deciding what grinder to get and while it feels sort of like home, sometimes home isn’t exactly where you want to be.  By the way, has anyone ever noticed this caution sign?  I’m assuming it’s on all of these, but I just saw it for the first time today.
  

It says, “CAUTION:  Potential Fire Hazzard.  Run Time Not To Exceed 30 Min In Any One Hour.”

I am quite confident this sign does not exist on the Mahlkonig.  As an interesting side note, “Mahl” means “meal” and “Konig” means “king” in German.  

Does this mean we are now serving espresso fit for a king?  Quite possibly.

 While we were down at the Elysian Room picking up and bringing back grinders Alistair showed us his ridiculously awsome pitcher rinser that all the cool kids are using. Needless to say, we got one.  If you haven’t seen one, it functions in a way that makes it look like the water is just disappearing into the counter.  But it’s not.

And the best part about it is it can fit pretty much anything you can think of.  Milk pitchers, cups, milk jugs, synesso shot glasses - the list goes on.  And all you do, mind you, is press down. 

Also, in case you’re wondering about the pressure power of it, wonder no more.  It’s very high.

(This is my dad pressing down on it with nothing in the way of but that milk pitcher, about 4 feet higher.  It can hit the ceiling too, if you let it.)

    I will take your word for it, as that makes infinite times more sense than “meal”.

    While I was writing the blog I found it translated as meal on a few sites though for some reason. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Mahl
